7 - UP POUND CAKE

2 sticks butter
1/2 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
3 c. cake flour
1 c. 7-Up
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. lemon flavoring

FROSTING:

1 stick butter
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. corn syrup
3 tbsp. milk or cream
Dash of salt

Cream shortenings and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Alternately add cake flour and 7-Up, vanilla, salt, and flavoring. Bake in greased and floured cake pan at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

For icing: Mix all ingredients in mixer bowl. Mix on low speed at first then increase speed slowly. Mix until light and fluffy. Pour on top of cooled cake.
